Activity Objective: To learn the fundamental skills and techniques of ice climbing, rope team management, and risk mitigation, enabling participants to climb independently and safely.

Topics covered:

  • Planning: snow and weather conditions, terrain, and human factors

  • Icefall assessment and risk mitigation

  • Introduction to equipment, gear, and accessories

  • Basic knots

  • Anchors and protection

  • Belay stations

  • Ice screw placement

  • Technique: general principles, movement patterns, and climbing on low-angle and vertical ice

  • Rappelling and Abalakov anchors

  • Tactics and strategies

Duration: 3 days

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of climbing

Minimum participants: 4

Required equipment and accessories: Crampons and ice axes for ice climbing, helmet, harness, two 3 m slings, one 1.3 m cord for a self-belay, two D-shaped carabiners, two HMS carabiners, a complete belay/rappel system (bucket + HMS carabiner + oval carabiner). Additional equipment can be rented from the organization. A complete list of clothing, accessories, and equipment will be provided.

The fee includes: Logistical organization, guidance and instruction by a certified Alpine Guide, and use of shared safety equipment.

The fee does not include: Transfers, meals, accommodation, any lift tickets, and anything not specified under “The fee includes.”
